JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Duval County Schools are taking
a hard look at international teaching talent found in India. Recently,
Chief of Staff, Dr. Nancy Snyder, returned from a trip to that country
conducting interviews.
Snyder made the trip at no expense to taxpayers.
A Texas based recruiting company, US Employment, is working with
school districts looking to fill teaching positions in the areas
of math and science.
Presently, district staff is evaluating the interviews
captured on DVD. The potential pool of teachers has been narrowed
to a short list of 32.
Snyder told First Coast News the teachers she interviewed
are, "very eager, very qualified. All had master's degrees,
highly educated more than that absolutely committed to student success.
No decision has yet been made if the recruitment
trip to India will result in any hires. Last year, Duval County
had to hire 184 teachers in the areas of math and science.
